A shocking incident has come to light where a woman who has married multiple times is found to be HIV-positive. According to the sources, the woman decamped with valuables after marrying unsuspected men was arrested by police on May 6 and sent to Muzaffarnagar jail along with six members of her gang operating in several parts of UP and Uttarakhand.

After getting a medical examination, the police found that the female was HIV positive. She is now undergoing antiretroviral therapy, according to the officials.

As a result, authorities in two states are searching for the men she married, presumably to inform them about the health risks they might face. Meanwhile, the health department of Uttarakhand informed that "three men she came in physical contact with within the state are now HIV positive". This revelation followed tests on the males and the start of their treatment at an ART centre by the Udham Singh Nagar health department working with an NGO. The process of testing the affected men's other relatives is currently underway. Already, three of them have HIV.

The police further disclosed that the woman, who was in her 20s, was allegedly a member of a group that specialised in setting up "marriages" with local men. To dismiss suspicions, other members could take in the bride as a relative. Seven gang members, including the woman and her mother, were detained and taken to a jail in Muzaffarnagar following the reporting of multiple cases from various districts of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the search for other people who came in contact with the accused is underway.
