National News: Tensions have increased in the position on the India-Pakistan border after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. In view of this increasing tension, security system has been tightened in the border districts of Punjab. The Border Security Force (BSF) has increased patrolling in these areas and all types of suspicious activities are being closely monitored.
In Amritsar, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Fazilka districts of Punjab, BSF has increased security along the border and has intensified patrolling. In these districts, farmers who are growing wheat crops on the border with Pakistan, have been ordered to cut their crops within the next 48 hours and bring them to safe places. Special announcements have also been made from the gurudwaras, in which the farmers have been warned that if the crop is not harvested within the stipulated time, the ways of their entry will be closed. After this order, farmers are rapidly taking a blanket machine to harvest the crop.
The BSF has issued clear instructions that immediate action will be taken as soon as any suspicious activity is reported. Also, orders have been issued to shoot at any kind of movement. The activities of security forces have been increased on the 553 km long border from Pathankot in Punjab to Fazilka, and patrolling in villages along the border has been intensified.
Villagers of Kalu Wala village in Ferozepur district said that this village is already evacuated after the stress of India-Pakistan. People here are struggling with a sense of fear and insecurity, and now after getting orders to harvest, the border villages are also expected to be evacuated soon.
Special permits are given to farmers who cultivate near Zero Line, and during this time BSF personnel are deployed with them. The zero line has barbed wires, while there are only pillars on the zero line. The administration has appealed to the citizens to be vigilant and immediately inform the officials about any suspicious activity on the border, so that peace can be maintained.
