An altercation broke out between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Wednesday at the polling booth of Raiganj. The video surfaced on social media shows the workers getting involved in scuffle. Manas Kumar Ghosh is the candidate of BJP and Krishna Kalyani is the TMC candidate from the Raiganj assembly seat in the by-election.

Police intervened and controlled the situation. Visuals from the spot showed two groups pushing and shouting at each other.

Reacting to the scuffle, Manas Kumar Ghosh alleged that the ruling TMC party is trying to create disturbances in some booths in the constituency during the voting for the by-polls, which started at 7 am and concludes at 6 pm on Wednesday.

"Voting is going on smoothly. We want voting to take place peacefully and everyone should be able to cast their vote. TMC tried to create disturbances at 2-4 booths but we opposed them and voting is going on peacefully," Ghosh told ANI.

Meanwhile, it is important to note that this altercation has come a day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Manas Kumar Ghosh hit out at the Trinamool Congress for fielding Krishna Kalyani from the constituency, saying that the ruling party wants to "feed expired medicine" to people.

Notably, the mock polls are going on in the four Assembly constituencies in West Bengal. Voting for the by-polls will start at 7 am and go until 6 pm.
