In that case, twenty coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed near Govindpuri station in Kanpur after the engine struck an object deliberately placed on the tracks. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that this object caused the derailment.On Tuesday, August 20th, the Aligarh Railway Police charged Afsan for attempting to derail a train by placing an alloy wheel on the Delhi-Kanpur freight corridors tracks. This act echoed the earlier Sabarmati Express derailment in Kanpur.
