Kolkata rape case (ANI)

Sanjay Roy, the primary suspect in the shocking rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata, is scheduled to undergo a polygraph test on Sunday. This development follows a surprising reversal in his stance, as Roy now claims he is innocent and has been wrongfully accused. According to reports from jail officials, Roy has told guards that he had no involvement in the heinous crime, contradicting earlier reports of his confession.

Previous Confession in Question

Kolkata Police previously reported that Roy had admitted to both raping and murdering the victim inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. However, during a recent hearing at the Sealdah Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court, Roy denied these allegations, asserting that he agreed to the lie-detector test to clear his name.

Authorities Doubt Roy's Claims

Despite Roy’s claims of innocence, investigators have noted several inconsistencies in his statements. A senior officer revealed that Roy has been attempting to mislead authorities, failing to provide plausible explanations for the injuries on his face and his presence in the hospital building at the time of the crime.

"He couldn’t provide any satisfactory answer for the fresh injuries on his face and other body parts," the officer said, adding that CCTV footage clearly showed Roy in the corridor leading to the crime scene at 4:03 am, mere minutes before the incident.

Polygraph Test Postponed

Although Roy’s polygraph test was initially scheduled for Saturday, technical issues caused a delay. It is now expected to take place on Sunday. Meanwhile, six other individuals, including former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh and four doctors, were subjected to lie-detector tests on Saturday.

Sanjay Roy's Profile: A Disturbing Insight

The psychoanalytic profiling of Sanjay Roy has painted a disturbing picture. Described as a pervert with a severe addiction to pornography, Roy exhibited what one doctor referred to as an "animal-like instinct." According to a CBI officer, Roy displayed no remorse when recounting the crime to investigators, detailing the brutal events without hesitation.

Tragic Events of August 9

The trainee doctor was found brutally raped and murdered inside the hospital's seminar hall on the morning of August 9. She had reportedly gone to the hall to rest after a grueling 36-hour shift. The autopsy revealed the victim sustained 16 external and 9 internal injuries. CCTV footage captured Roy entering the building at around 4:03 am on the same day. Disturbingly, footage from August 8 shows Roy lingering in the chest department, appearing to ogle at the victim and others.
