The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formed a 6-member panel to inquire into the sexual harassment incidents and assault of minor girls at a state-run shelter home at Sandeshkhali in West Bengal.The formation of the panel has come to collect information about the alleged incidents of sexual harassment and violence against women there. Union Minister Annapurna Devi has been named as the convenor of the high-level committee. Other members of the panel are Pratima Bhowmik, BJP MPs Sunita Duggal, Kavita Patidar, Sangeeta Yadav, and Brijlal.After the investigation, the panel will submit the report to BJP party president JP Nadda. Before this on Wednesday, Sukanta Majumdar, the president of the West Bengal BJP, got injured during a police lathi charge during a fight that broke out between party workers and police. Earlier, locals, particularly women, marched through various sections of Sandeshkhali, carrying slippers in their hands, demanding the arrest of TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh in an alleged land ration allotment scam and the alleged rape incidents.
