In the latest development, the anti-drugs agency Narcotics Control Bureau informed the Bombay High Court in an affidavit, that Sameer Wankhede, former zonal director of the Narcotics Control Bureau, cannot use his chats with actor Shah Rukh Khan as evidence of his integrity since he kept them secret.

According to the federal agency, Wankhede had no justification for continuing such conversations with Shah Rukh Khan without telling his superiors. It also appears that the now-suspended officer made several calls to the actor. Furthermore, Wankhede supposedly did not provide the phone used for the chats with the actor Shah Rukh Khan.

Former NCB Mumbai zone chief, who is under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly demanding ₹25 crores from Khan in exchange for not implicating the latter’s son Aryan in a drugs case, shared his conversations with the actor in an affidavit submitted to the Bombay high court last month to refute the claims of extortion. Wankhede alleged that during the talks, the actor appreciated his honesty.

Notably, the extortion attempt is linked to the arrest of Aryan Khan during an NCB raid on a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast on October 3, 2021. Eventually, he was granted bail after 25 days.
