During the hearing, ASI alleged that the people of the mosque committee have spoiled the color of this protected monument by painting the building. The court asked ASI to file a clear affidavit. The ASI also requested the court for some more time to file an affidavit. In this affidavit, it should clearly mention why the mosque does not need to be painted.

Sources said the Mahasabha members had sought permission to perform puja and havan at Sambhal's Shahi Jama Masjid, terming it as Harihar temple. Sambhal SDM Vandana Mishra told reporters that some people claiming to be members of the Hindu Mahasabha had come here from New Delhi and sought permission to perform puja and havan at the Shahi Jama Masjid.
