Sambhal Masjid Row: Court Orders ASI to Clarify Stance on Jama Masjid Painting

Sambhal Jama Masjid Verdict: The Sambhal Jama Masjid case was presented in thre Allahabad High Court . During the hearing, ASI alleged that the people of the mosque committee have spoiled the color of this protected monument by painting the building. The court asked ASI to file a clear affidavit. The ASI also requested the court for some more time to file an affidavit. In this affidavit, it should clearly mention why the mosque does not need to be painted.

Jama Masjid Painting Dispute: Sambhal Court Demands Clear ASI Affidavit

ASI had said in its report that there is no need to paint the mosque. The mosque committee has filed a written reply to the ASI report. In its reply, the mosque committee had demanded the ASI report to be rejected. The High Court had asked ASI to file an objection to the mosque committee's reply.

A group of people claiming to be members of the Hindu Mahasabha on Friday performed a 'havan' at the local sub-divisional magistrate (SDM)'s office after they were denied permission to perform puja and havan at the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal.

Sources said the Mahasabha members had sought permission to perform puja and havan at Sambhal's Shahi Jama Masjid, terming it as Harihar temple. Sambhal SDM Vandana Mishra told reporters that some people claiming to be members of the Hindu Mahasabha had come here from New Delhi and sought permission to perform puja and havan at the Shahi Jama Masjid.
