Podcaster and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, recently issued a public apology after making an inappropriate remark on the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent. While Ranveer has taken responsibility for his comments, comedian Samay Raina, who was also part of the episode, has remained silent amid the uproar. It has now been revealed that Samay is currently in Seattle, US, for a stand-up comedy show, seemingly detached from the controversy unfolding back home.
The backlash began after a viral clip from India’s Got Latent showed Ranveer Allahbadia making an offensive and crude joke. During the episode, he posed a highly inappropriate question to a contestant, sparking outrage across social media. The remark was criticized as distasteful and insensitive, with many calling out the podcaster and the show's hosts for promoting offensive content in the name of humor.
Despite the controversy, Samay Raina has not addressed the issue publicly. Meanwhile, Balraj Singh Ghai, a producer and frequent judge on India’s Got Latent, shared photos from Seattle, confirming that Samay is currently on a comedy tour in the US. The images show Samay performing at his show, engaging in a casual chess game with Balraj, and receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. His silence on the controversy has further fueled speculation and criticism online.
Following the outrage, a formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women's Commission. The complaint accuses the show of using abusive language and making obscene remarks about women for financial gain and online popularity. Social media users have demanded accountability from both Ranveer and Samay for their involvement in the episode.
Ranveer Allahbadia responded to the backlash by publicly apologizing for his remarks. In a video posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, he admitted that his comments were inappropriate and not meant to be humorous.
"My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry." Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Ranveer added: "I personally had a lapse in judgment. It wasn't cool on my part." While his apology has been welcomed by some, others continue to criticize both Ranveer and Samay for their role in the controversial episode. At the moment, Samay Raina has yet to break his silence, leaving fans and critics wondering whether he will address the controversy or continue focusing on his international tour.
