In a shocking turn of events, comedian and India’s Got Latent host Samay Raina announced on Wednesday that he had deleted all episodes of his show from YouTube. The decision comes after immense public backlash, legal action, and widespread protests, including the burning of effigies, following an "inappropriate" joke made by guest Ranveer Allahbadia. While the move has disappointed fans, many are now anxious about the fate of the yet-to-be-released episodes featuring popular celebrities.
Instagram user @raptile_sayzz compiled images of all the unreleased episodes, revealing that they featured:
Fans expressed their disappointment, with one writing, "At least release the OG episodes, you betrayers!" Another joked, "Wish we could time-travel and delete just that one scene!" Some even suggested unconventional ways to release the episodes, proposing platforms like PornHub, OnlyFans, or even Pakistan as alternatives.
In his first official statement since the controversy erupted, Samay Raina, 27, expressed his distress over the situation and confirmed his cooperation with investigative agencies. "Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you," Raina wrote on X. The controversy took a legal turn when YouTube removed the problematic episode following central government orders on Tuesday. The show, which premiered in June 2024, had aired 18 episodes before being taken down.
Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, found himself at the center of the storm after his comments about parents and sex on Raina’s show went viral on Monday. The remarks sparked police complaints in Mumbai and Guwahati, forcing Allahbadia to issue a public apology, calling it a "lapse in judgment." Despite the apology, the controversy continues to rage. On Wednesday, Mumbai Police recorded the statements of four individuals, including social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, who also appeared on the show.
With all episodes deleted and legal scrutiny mounting, the future of India’s Got Latent remains uncertain. Fans who were eagerly awaiting the unreleased episodes now fear they may never see the light of day. Meanwhile, debates around freedom of speech, comedy, and public sensitivity continue to intensify on social media.
