The case dates back to 2016 when there was a property dispute in Dungarpur. In 2019, a case was registered at Ganj police station in Rampur, naming a Samajwadi Party leader and six others as the accused. This case has been under investigation and legal scrutiny since then.

Acquittals and convictions

Earlier, the court acquitted three other accused individuals – Jibran, Farman, and Omendra Chauhan – due to lack of evidence. However, in the judgment delivered in March, Azam Khan, Aale Hasan, Azhar Ahmad Khan, and Barkat Ali were found guilty and received prison sentences.

Details of the sentences

The four convicted individuals, including Azam Khan, were sentenced under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They were charged with crimes such as mischief causing damage (section 427), intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace (section 504), criminal intimidation (section 506), criminal trespass (section 447), and criminal conspiracy (section 120B).
