Sakshi Malik dismissed reports suggesting her withdrawal from the wrestlers’ protest. Earlier, it was reported that she had returned to her position at Northern Railway.

In an earlier version of the story, it was incorrectly reported that Sakshi Malik had withdrawn from the wrestlers’ protest. However, Sakshi Malik clarified in a tweet that she has not withdrawn from the protest but has resumed her government job. The story has been updated to reflect this clarification.

On Saturday night, a meeting took place at Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence in Delhi between him and the protesting wrestlers. The meeting extended late into the night as the wrestlers voiced their demand for the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan.

According to Satyawrat Kadian, the husband of renowned wrestler Sakshi Malik, the meeting between the wrestlers and Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday did not yield the desired outcome. Kadian stated that the meeting was inconclusive as they did not receive the response they were hoping for from the Home Minister.

Following their unsuccessful attempt to immerse their medals in the Ganga in Haridwar, which was hindered by farmers’ leader Naresh Tikait, the protesting wrestlers issued an ultimatum to the government. They demanded the arrest of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh before June 9. It was in this context that the meeting with the Home Minister took place.

Wrestlers have been engaging in protests against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accusing him of sexually harassing female wrestlers, including a minor. As a result, two First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against Brij Bhushan, and he has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
