Ex-India wrestler and Olympic bronze medalist Sakshee Malikkh has once again targeted former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh and the current chief, Sanjay Singh. In a biting post, she welcomed Sanjay Singh, who is a close associate of Brij Bhushan Singh, to the WFI fold, expressing concern over the plight of women wrestlers under the current regime.

In her post, she wrote, "All limits of exploitation of the sisters and daughters of the country, especially Haryana, will be crossed because there is no one to stop them, they are bigger than both the government and the people of this country."

WFI invites Sakshee Malikkh, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat to Olympic qualifiers

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) extended invitations to ex-India wrestler Sakshi Malik, along with Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, to participate in the selection trials for the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship and Asian Olympic Games Qualifiers. The trials are scheduled for March 10 and 11 at the KD Jadhav Wrestling Indoor Stadium, IGI Sports Complex, New Delhi, as announced by WFI President Sanjay Singh.

Reconciliation efforts following UWW's decision

This invitation marks a significant development following the recent lifting of the suspension on WFI by the United World Wrestling (UWW), which came with the condition that the protesting wrestlers, including Malikkh, Punia, and Phogat, would not face discrimination. The trio had led protests against former WFI head Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, demanding accountability for alleged sexual harassment of women wrestlers.

Legal proceedings against Brij Bhushan Singh

Meanwhile, legal proceedings against BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment by six female wrestlers, continue. A Delhi Court concluded arguments regarding the framing of charges against Singh and has scheduled the next hearing for March 15, 2024, to address any remaining clarifications in the case.
