Maharashtra News: Mumbai Police have apprehended Vijay Das, the primary suspect in the stabbing incident involving actor Saif Ali Khan. The arrest took place early Sunday in Thane West, Maharashtra, at a labor camp located behind the TCS Call Center in Hiranandani Estate. This operation was executed by a team led by DCP Zone-6 Navnath Dhavale in collaboration with the Kasarvadavali police.

Details of the Incident

On Thursday, Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds during a violent confrontation with an intruder who attempted to rob his residence in Bandra. Following the attack, Khan's son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, rushed him to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries. Fortunately, doctors have reported that the actor is now stable and recovering.

Who is Vijay Das?

Vijay Das, previously employed at a Mumbai pub, was arrested under multiple aliases including Bijoy Das and Mohammad Iliyas. The police are set to present him in court for remand on Sunday. Security footage captured Das entering Saif Ali Khan's building and using the staircase to access the actor's 12th-floor apartment.

Eyewitness Accounts

Eliyamma Philips, also known as Lima, a member of Khan's household staff, was present during the incident. She was the first to confront the intruder and suffered injuries while trying to stop him. Her screams alerted Saif Ali Khan, who then engaged in a struggle with Das. According to Lima's description, the attacker is a slim, dark-complexioned man in his late thirties and approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall.

The Attacker's Escape

After the attack, CCTV footage showed Das buying headphones at a store in Dadar around 9 AM on Thursday. He was also spotted at Bandra railway station before boarding a train. Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif's wife, informed authorities that the assailant became highly aggressive during their altercation but did not attempt to steal any visible jewelry.

Saif Ali Khan's Recovery

Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital with severe injuries, including a knife lodged in his spine. Medical staff reported that he underwent several surgeries and was moved to intensive care for observation.
