Sabke Ram: Schools run by the Delhi government will be closed on Monday, January 22, to mark the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony for the new Ram Mandir temple in Ayodhya. However, evening schools in Delhi will operate at their regular time of 2:30 pm on January 22.

In a notification issued on Sunday, the Delhi education department stated, "All government and government-aided schools of Delhi running general and morning shifts are ordered to remain closed on January 22."

The order follows a previous notification declaring a half-day closure of all Delhi government offices and establishments to allow employees to participate in the celebrations for the 'Pran Pratishtha' rituals being held on January 22.

On Saturday, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V.K. Saxena, approved the half-day closure of all government offices, urban local bodies, autonomous organisations, undertakings and boards to observe the opening of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

The Delhi administration's decision mirrors similar moves by the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Goa. Madhya Pradesh also ordered all schools in the state to be closed on January 22 for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony.

January 22 has been declared a full public holiday in Goa, with the closure of government offices and schools as mandated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Notably, most BJP-ruled states have declared a full-day holiday on January 22.

The central government has also announced a half-day holiday for all its offices and PSU banks for the event. The Finance Ministry stated that all central government offices and institutions will remain closed until 2:30 pm on January 22, after which working hours will resume.

Private sector banks will remain fully open on January 22, as it is designated a regular working day on the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar.
