New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has urged the Indian government to "mobilize global support" to counter the escalating violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale condemned the alarming persecution and accused the Bangladeshi government, led by Muhammad Yunus, of turning a blind eye to the plight of minorities.

Detention of ISKCON Monk Sparks Outrage

The RSS also demanded the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a former ISKCON leader and Hindu monk, who was arrested by Bangladeshi authorities while traveling to Chattogram. "All that the ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das was doing was leading peaceful protests. This unjust imprisonment symbolizes a new phase of atrocities aimed at suppressing democratic voices of self-defense raised by Hindus in Bangladesh," read the RSS statement.

Rising Violence Against Minorities in Bangladesh

The RSS highlighted a disturbing pattern of attacks, murders, looting, arson, and other forms of violence targeting Hindus, women, and other minorities in Bangladesh. These incidents have been attributed to radical Islamist groups exploiting the political instability following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government after a student uprising. Protests in August saw thousands of Hindus marching through Dhaka and Chattogram, demanding justice for attacks on their community.

Hosabale emphasized the need for international solidarity to ensure the protection of minorities in Bangladesh. "At this critical juncture, it is essential for global entities to express support and urge their governments to act decisively to address the situation. This is vital for global peace and brotherhood," the statement added.

VHP Launches Nationwide Protest

In parallel, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), an affiliate of the RSS, initiated a two-day nationwide protest to denounce the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh. The protests aim to bring attention to incidents of temple vandalism, assaults, and property destruction faced by Hindus.

In his Vijayadashami speech, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat praised the organized resistance of the Hindu minority in Bangladesh, marking their first concerted effort against radical elements. He called for sustained international pressure on the Bangladeshi government to prevent further violence.
