Acting swiftly on the complaint and the dashcam footage, Madukarai police apprehended four suspects from Palakkad on Saturday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sivadas (29) and Ramesh Babu (27) from Chittoor, along with Vishnu (28) and Mallappally Ajay Kumar (24) from Kunnathupalayam. All four have been remanded in custody.
A surprising detail emerged during the investigation. One of the arrested men, Vishnu, is reportedly a soldier in the Madras Regiment. He has been absent from duty since returning home on June 4.
Police believe the gang may have mistaken the victims for individuals transporting hawala money. The investigation is ongoing to apprehend any remaining accomplices and establish the exact motive behind the attack.
