A startling video has surfaced online, showcasing Retired Major Amit Kumar Singh of the Indian Army making a grave accusation. Major Amit claims that a Colonel, an active-duty officer in the Indian Army, has taken his wife, Colonel Anu Singh, hostage. This shocking allegation has sent ripples across social media, raising concerns about internal issues within the army ranks.

As per video surfaced on social media, Colonel Amit Kumar Singh, a resident of Lucknow and an alumnus of Shia College, retired from the Indian Army after opted for voluntary retirement (VRS). His wife, Colonel Anu Singh, is still serving in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) branch of the armed forces. The JAG branch functions similarly to the judiciary in civilian life, overseeing legal matters within the Army, with JAG officers often referred to as "Judges in Uniform."

In his recent social media post, Amit revealed the distressing condition of the couple, emphasizing the challenges they face due to alleged harassment from senior army officers. Amit’s dissatisfaction with the government’s Agniveer Scheme and his vocal opposition to the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) have been well-known. He even drafted a petition involving 356 army personnel challenging AFSPA in the Supreme Court.

Additionally, he played a crucial role in assisting Major Aditya during the Shopian incident in Jammu and Kashmir by supporting litigation efforts in the Supreme Court.

Allegations of harassment and call for action

Major Amit asserts that his efforts to expose corruption and irregularities within the armed forces have led to severe repercussions. He alleges that senior army officers are now targeting his wife, who was under medical treatment, by holding her hostage. In his video, Amit appeals for an immediate and thorough investigation into the matter, calling it a "shameful act" if proven true. He also urges Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene, stating that no honest officer should suffer such consequences for standing against corruption within the armed forces.
