As only few days are left for India to celebrate its 75th Republic Day, the parade rehearsals have begun at the Kartvyapath in Delhi on Wednesday. The theme for this Republic Day is India - Mother of Democracy and Viksit Bharat (Developed India), that highlights Indias strong democratic values and aspirations for a developed nation.However, there are several things that will add uniqueness to the event. Two All-Women Contingents: For the first time ever, the prestigious Republic Day parade will showcase two all-women contingents from the Indian defense forces. One contingent will comprise 144 personnel, with 60 from the Army and the rest from the Air Force and Navy. This historic march symbolizes the growing role of women in the Indian armed forces. IPS officer, Shweta K Sugathan, will lead the marching contingent of 194 female head constables and force constables.Women Pipe Band of Delhi Police: As compared to the last time, the Delhi Police womens pipe band will also be led by a woman officer, Ruyangunuo Kense, which was led by Inspector Rajender Singh last time. The womens pipe band plays the Delhi Police song every year and comprises 135 constables and head constables.President of France as Chief Guest: This year, Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has been invited as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations. This marks the sixth time a French leader will be graced with this honor, highlighting the strong ties between the two nations.India - Mother of Democracy and Viksit Bharat Theme: The Republic Day theme for 2024 is India - Mother of Democracy and Viksit Bharat (Developed India). This dual theme focuses on showcasing Indias rich democratic tradition and its aspirations for inclusive development.Drone Swarms Display: The Indian Army will be unveiling a captivating drone swarm display for the first time. This synchronized performance by a large number of drones promises to be a highlight of the parade, demonstrating Indias growing technological prowess.Focus on Women Empowerment: Republic Day 2024 will have a special focus on women empowerment. Apart from the all-women contingents, other initiatives like showcasing achievements of women entrepreneurs and scientists are expected to be emphasized.Nationwide Flag Distribution Drive: The government has launched a nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, aiming to distribute 20 crore (200 million) national flags to households across the country. This initiative aims to create a stronger sense of national unity and patriotism.Increased Public Participation: This year, there is a greater emphasis on encouraging public participation in Republic Day celebrations.
