Prominent Jain muni, 77 years old,  Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj passed away early Sunday morning at Chandragiri Teerth in Chhattisgarh's Dongargarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on the demise of Acharya.

The PM posted on microblogging platform X, "My thoughts and prayers are with the countless devotees of Acharya Shri 108 Vidhyasagar Ji Maharaj Ji. He will be remembered by the coming generations for his invaluable contributions to society, especially his efforts towards spiritual awakening among people, his work towards poverty alleviation, healthcare, education, and more."

Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj was a highly respected Digambara Jain Acharya renowned for his profound scholarship, spiritual insights, and commitment to a life of austerity. Born in 1946, he embraced spirituality at a young age and dedicated his life to studying and practicing Jain scriptures and philosophy. He authored numerous commentaries, poems, and spiritual treatises, including Niranjana Shataka and Bhavana Shataka, revered within the Jain community.

Beyond his scholarly pursuits, Acharya Vidyasagar Maharaj was deeply involved in social welfare initiatives, particularly in the Bundelkhand region.
