New Delhi: In Alwar, Rajasthan, a disturbing case has emerged where a relative filmed a BA student while she was bathing and used the footage to repeatedly rape her under threats of making the video viral. The victim bravely recounted her ordeal to the police, shedding light on the brutality she endured.Bathing video used to blackmail and rapeIn the Raini police station area of Alwar district, a relative captured an obscene video of a BA student during a family wedding ceremony. This video became a tool for the perpetrator to continuously blackmail and rape the victim. The victim, a resident of a village within the Raini police stations jurisdiction, reported the crime to the authorities.According to Raini police station officer Premlata Verma, the incident began on April 22, 2022, during a wedding at the victims home. The accused relative attended the event and secretly filmed the victim while she was bathing. Using this video, he threatened to make it viral and raped her multiple times. He further threatened to kill her brother if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.Abduction and further assaultOn April 9, 2024, as the victim was on her way to college, the accused and an accomplice abducted her, forcing her into a car. Inside the vehicle, they made her drink a spiked cold beverage, causing her to lose consciousness. When she awoke, she found herself in Ghaziabad, Delhi, where the accused forced her to sign some documents.The same day, the perpetrator took the victim to Jaipur, threatening her life. They checked into Hotel Radha Palace, where the accused repeatedly raped her. On April 25, 2024, he locked her in a room and left, inadvertently leaving his phone behind. The victim used this opportunity to call her father and narrate the entire incident.Rescue and police actionUpon receiving the distressing call, the victims family rushed to Jaipur and safely brought her back to their village. Subsequently, the victims father filed a rape case at Raini police station. The investigation is currently being led by DSP Rajgarh.Rising crime rates in AlwarAlwar district has seen a worrying increase in criminal activities, particularly in Rajgarh, where more than half a dozen rape cases have been reported in the past two months. Although the police have registered these cases, there seems to be little deterrence, as criminals continue to commit such heinous acts with apparent impunity.
