New Delhi: Delhi-NCR experienced severe weather conditions on Wednesday evening as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the region. The IMDs forecast predicts that moderate to heavy rain will continue in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, and Ghaziabad over the coming hours. Wind speeds are expected to range between 30 to 50 km/h, adding to the intensity of the storm. The department has warned of moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning affecting various parts of Delhi, including North Delhi, Central Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi, South-East Delhi, and East Delhi.Which areas are affectedIn addition to Delhi-NCR, the red alert extends to nearby regions such as Panipat, Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Hisar, Karnal, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nuh, Rewari, Alwar, Narnaul, Palwal, Hodal, Hathin, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, and Mathura. Localized waterlogging is expected in low-lying areas, further complicating travel and daily activities. The average maximum temperature for the month was recorded at 35.8°C, slightly above the long-period average. However, high humidity levels have made it feel much warmer. On Tuesday, the city saw its highest maximum temperature for the month at 39.3°C, which was five degrees above the normal for the season. On Wednesday morning, the minimum temperature was 30.4°C, about 3.3 degrees above the seasonal norm. Humidity levels were measured at 63% by 5:30 PM.
