New Delhi: A harrowing tale has emerged from Bihar, revealing a horrifying scheme of sexual exploitation under the guise of job offers. This scandal, involving the rape and forced abortions of nearly 200 women, has sent shockwaves through the local community and administration. The incident is being compared to the infamous Muzaffarpur Balika Grih scandal, but on an even larger scale.

Deception of employment

In an unprecedented case in Bihar, a company set up with the pretense of providing jobs exploited women's desperation for employment. The scale of this deceit is staggering, with about 200 women falling victim to the gang's heinous acts. This revelation has left the local administration in turmoil, with calls for an SIT investigation and severe punishment for the perpetrators.

How were they trapped?

The incident came to light in Muzaffarpur's Ahiyapur area, where 180 girls were lured with promises of jobs, held captive, and subjected to brutal sexual exploitation. The incident has drawn comparisons to the Balika Grih scandal, which also involved the systemic abuse of young girls. A film, Bhakshak, was made to depict the Balika Grih scandal, highlighting the gravity of such incidents.

Survivor speaks up

A survivor from Chhapra filed a complaint at the Ahiyapur police station, detailing the horrific ordeal. She recounted how she was enticed by a Facebook job post from DVR Sanstha, which demanded twenty thousand rupees for training after her selection. She was then held with other girls near Bakhri in the Ahiyapur area. Despite months without pay, she was promised a salary increase if she could recruit 50 more girls.

Forced abortions and continued abuse

While in Muzaffarpur, Tilak Singh continued to abuse the victim, resulting in her pregnancy and subsequent forced abortion. Whenever she expressed a desire to return home, she was met with violence. Eventually, Singh left her with a two-hundred-rupee note in Bairia and advised her to leave if she wished, making her realize the company's fraudulent nature.

Hostage situation and police raid

The survivor revealed that she and others were pressured to recruit more girls from their contact lists. Unaware of the company's true nature, she complied out of financial desperation. However, a police raid on the organization's office and hostel in Ahiyapur led to the rescue of many girls. The raid prompted CMD Tilak Singh to relocate the girls to Hajipur, where he forcibly married the complainant.

A front for sexual exploitation

An anti-rape activist and a activist of gender rights, Yogita Bhayana also talked about the horriffic ordeal through which these girls went through. She also sought the most stringent form of punishment for the perpretrators who were running the sexual exploitaion. She wrote in Hindi, "Nearly 100 girls were held hostage on the pretext of giving them jobs. They were beaten up. Many of these girls are accused of sexual exploitation and abortion. The CMD of the company is Tilak Singh, who is said to be the mastermind of the entire gang. One of the accused, DVR company's director Brajesh Thakur, also ran a local newspaper. All the accused are absconding."

A front for sexual exploitation

The survivor's testimony unveiled the company as a front for sexual exploitation. Girls were held hostage and surrounded by guards, making escape impossible. They were coerced into recruiting more girls, who were then also sexually exploited under the false promise of employment.
