Rameshwaram Cafe blast: NIA suspect hails from Malnad, probe sharpens

Leading to a major development in the investigation into the Rameshwaram cafe blast in Bengaluru that injured 10 people on March 1, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Central Crime Branch (CCB) said that the suspected bomber hails from the state’s highland Malnad, as per sources.

It is purported that the suspect entered the cafe, set off a bomb there, and then ran away. Based on intelligence about the suspect's whereabouts, law enforcement agencies are presently carrying out operations in Hyderabad, Telangana, and Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. After examining the footage, the suspect's identity was finally revealed.

Before this, on Saturday, the investigation agency released two videos and pictures of the suspect in the Rameshwaram blast case, seeking the cooperation of the citizens to identify him.

A prize money of Rs 10 lakh was also announced by the department for information on the suspected bomber.

Notably, the case was handed over to NIA on March 3 and the investigation into the case is on. Meanwhile, the restaurant has been reopened for business on March 8.
