At a recent conference, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP for their treatment of India's tribal communities. He pointed out that BJP leaders often refer to tribals as mere "forest dwellers," which he claimed is a deliberate attempt to erase their rich history and cultural identity. Emphasizing the true meaning of "Adivasi," which stands for "the first owners of the country," Rahul Gandhi highlighted the significance of tribal heritage and how the BJP is undermining it by reducing it to just a word.
Rahul Gandhi also accused the BJP of controlling key institutions such as the media, the Election Commission, the CBI, and the Income Tax Department (IT), stating that none of these entities protect the Constitution anymore. Despite the BJP's power, with access to money and institutional control, Rahul Gandhi stressed that the Congress party relies on the 'truth' to fight for justice. He underscored that the truth alone is enough to prevail, even against the vast resources of the ruling party.
With the upcoming elections in focus, the Congress party is intensifying its activities in Jharkhand. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) currently holds the largest share of power in the state with 30 MLAs, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 25, and Congress with 16 MLAs. The Election Commission has announced that Jharkhand’s 81-seat assembly will go to the polls on November 13 and 20, with Maharashtra’s election scheduled for November 20. The political stakes are high as Congress seeks to strengthen its foothold.
