Following Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the Congress nominee for the Rajya Sabha, losing the poll and Harsh Mahajan, the BJP candidate, winning the lone seat, the top leadership of the grand old party has now sent senior leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and DK Shivakumar to handle the problem in Himachal Pradesh.

According to a close source of the party, both leaders have been designated as observers for the ongoing political unrest in Himachal Pradesh.

Bhupinder Hooda and DK Shivakumar have been selected by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge to hold negotiations with the six Congress MLAs who cast a cross-vote in the Rajya Sabha elections. A source claims that the MLAs had asked for Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's replacement because they were dissatisfied with the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh's working style.

According to sources, former chief minister of Haryana Bhupinder Hooda and deputy chief minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar are scheduled to arrive in Shimla on Wednesday morning to assess the circumstances surrounding the challenging circumstances facing the state's Congress government.

Senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Harsh Mahajan both received 34 votes on Tuesday; a lotto was used to determine the winner.
