Fake Kidnapping: A shocking revelation has emerged in a case where a man, who had been living as "Raju" in Dehradun and Ghaziabad, was discovered to be an impostor from Rajasthan. The man, initially believed to be a kidnapping victim, confessed his true identity after a DNA test exposed his deceit. His real name is Indraj Raj, and he had successfully fooled multiple families with his fake abduction story.

The deceptive tale begins

The saga began on November 23, when a man named Raju visited the Khoda police station and claimed that he was kidnapped in 1993 while on his way home from school. He stated that the kidnappers had taken him to Rajasthan, where he was held captive, tortured, and forced to work as a shepherd in a shack.

Upon investigation, the police found a missing persons report from 31 years ago, filed by a family from Rajasthan. They called the family, and Raju, believing they were his real parents, was handed over to them. However, the investigation took an unexpected turn when it was discovered that Raju had also been living with a family in Dehradun between April and November 2024, continuing his story of kidnapping.

The truth comes to light

After being detained by the Khoda police, a DNA test was conducted on December 3. The results revealed the man’s true identity: he was not Raju, but Indraj Raj, a resident of Rajasthan. In his confession, Indraj admitted that over the past four years, he had deceived nine families across different states, convincing them that he was their missing son. He would stay with each family for a few months before making up an excuse to leave.

A troubled past

Further investigation revealed that Indraj had been disowned by his father, Chunnilal, in 2011 due to his mischievous behavior. After being removed from the family’s property, he adopted the name "Raju" and began his elaborate deception, living with families and emotionally manipulating them.

While the police have confirmed that no crimes, such as theft or fraud, were committed during his stay with the families, they are working to trace the remaining families he victimized.
