Rajasthan police arrest man in connection with 22-year-old Poonam Sharma's death

Police claim that although the victim was single, the accused was married and had children.

According to the authorities, a 32-year-old male was arrested on Wednesday in the Bharatpur area of Rajasthan for reportedly killing a woman over a quarrel. They claimed that in a leased room in Patpara colony, which is part of the Sar Mathura police station's jurisdiction, Sonu Sharma slit Poonam Sharma's throat.

The official statement

"It appears to be a romantic relationship. After being taken into custody, the accused is now being questioned. The victim was single, but the accused is married and has kids. Investigations are underway to determine the precise cause of the attack, Bharatpur DSP Sunil Kumar Sharma said.

Post-mortem and reports 

He claimed that, following a post-mortem examination, the body was given to the woman's relatives. The accused allegedly attempted to cut his wrist as well, hurting himself, but was released from the hospital following first care. He stated that the accused has a murder complaint filed against them at the Sar Mathura police station, and the case is being looked into.
