New Delhi: On Thursday, the Rajasthan High Court granted bail to Mohammed Javed, an accused in the brutal 2022 murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal. Javed was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on July 22, 2022, for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy surrounding the killing.

The gruesome murder occurred on June 28, 2022, when Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded by Riyaz Attari and Ghous Mohammed at his shop. The attack was reportedly motivated by Lal’s public support for former BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammed. The perpetrators recorded the incident and threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the video. Hours after the crime, they were arrested.
