New Delhi: The BJP government in Rajasthan, in its first budget since coming to power, has announced the development of the Khatu Shyam corridor and promised to create four lakh government jobs over the next five years. The Khatu Shyam corridor is expected to boost religious tourism and enhance infrastructure around the Khatu Shyam Ji temple, a significant pilgrimage site. This initiative is part of a broader effort to drive economic growth and employment in the state.

The development of the Khatu Shyam Mandor corridor was on the lines of the Kashi Vishwanath corridor and Ram Temple in Ayodhya and was announced by the Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari on Wednesday during she tabled the Rajasthan government’s budget on Wednesday. Notably, this was the first budget of the BJP government elected in Rajasthan last November.

Key highlights of the budget:

The state is expected to earn Rs 2.64 lakh crore in revenue and Rs 2.90 lakh crore in expenditures during the 2024–25 fiscal year.

The budget's main highlights are its proposals for the development of basic amenities like electricity, water, and roads; the development of human resources; the planned and sustainable development of rural and urban areas; the respectable empowerment of farmer families; the development of MSMEs alongside large industries; the preservation of heritage through the concept of heritage development; Green Rajasthan; health for all; the provision of social security to impoverished families; and the establishment of good governance through perform, reform, and transform.

The major highlights of the budget for infrastructure are that the government will develop nine 'Green Field Expressways' of more than 2750 kilometers and construct a road network of 53,000 kilometres in 5 years, for which the estimated expenditure is Rs 60,000 crore.
In addition to this, Deputy CM Diya Kumari also announced that the budget includes investments in electrification and education, along with the launch of a new sports policy to promote athletic development in the state.
