Rajasthan News: The wedding season took a surprising turn in Sikar, Rajasthan, when a bride decided to take drastic action on her wedding day. In an incident that has left the local community shocked, the bride, Manju Jakhar, went straight to the police station after her groom, Vikram, demanded outrageous dowry and displayed abusive behavior. The incident unfolded on November 12, when the groom's procession arrived at the bride's house in Lamba ki Dhani village with much fanfare.

The Traditional Ritual That Sparked the Conflict

The wedding ceremony began with joy, as the baraat (wedding procession) was warmly welcomed and the jaimala (garland exchange) took place without any trouble. However, as the bride and groom sat down for the important seven rounds of the marriage ceremony, the groom’s attitude quickly took a turn. During a traditional ritual where the groom’s shoes are stolen by the bride's sisters-in-law, the groom became enraged when they asked for a shagun (gift) of 11,000 rupees in exchange for returning his shoes.

The groom, instead of playing along with the customary tradition, began hurling insults at the sisters-in-law, shocking everyone present. The pandit (priest) tried to intervene and explain that this was just a ritual, but the groom’s aggression escalated further. He then made an even more alarming demand: five lakh rupees in dowry and a bullet motorcycle, claiming that this was the only way the marriage would proceed.

Bride Refuses to Tolerate Groom’s Demands

The bride’s family was stunned by these demands, as they had already given more than they could afford. Despite their pleas, the groom remained adamant. Faced with his unreasonable demands and hostile behavior, the bride decided she could not go through with the marriage.

In a bold move, the bride got up from the mandap (wedding altar) and walked straight to the police station. She registered a case against the groom, which led to a swift police response. Upon returning with the authorities, the situation remained tense. When talks failed to resolve the dispute, the police arrested the groom, effectively ending the wedding before the couple could exchange their vows.

Bride's Bold Decision: Choosing Self-Respect Over Marriage
In a statement, the bride said, "It is better to break the marriage than to enter such a home." She expressed relief and happiness at her decision, which many believe was an act of courage in the face of adversity. Meanwhile, the groom's family was left empty-handed, with the baraat returning without the marriage taking place.
