A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan's Kota district on Tuesday as a 20-year-old student, who was diligently preparing for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses, took his own life, marking the sixth such occurrence in the coaching hub this year, as confirmed by the police.

The district had previously witnessed 27 students take their lives while preparing for various competitive exams last year. Shedding light on the recent incident, Satish Chand, the station house officer of Kota's Vigyan Nagar, disclosed that the student, hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj, was found hanging from the ceiling fan at his rented accommodation in the area.

"The discovery unfolded when he failed to respond to his parents' calls in the morning, prompting them to reach out to his friends residing in Jawahar Nagar. Subsequently, his friends rushed to his apartment, sought assistance from the landlord and security guard, and, upon entering the room, discovered the distressing scene," explained the SHO.

The deceased had been residing in Kota for about a year and had recently shifted to the apartment just a few days prior to the tragic incident. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, with authorities notifying the student's parents about the devastating loss.
