Rajasthan: 29-year-old man abducts woman, sexually assaults her in field late at night

New Delhi: In a disturbing turn of events from Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district where a serious criminal case has come to light. On September 1, 2024, the Makrana police filed a case involving the murder and attempted rape of a woman. The quick actions of the law enforcement team led to the arrest of the accused in Ramdevra, Jaisalmer, just days after the incident.

Investigation leads to arrest of 29-year-old suspect

In response to a horrific crime, District Superintendent Rajendra Kumar Meena of Didwana-Kuchaman directed the Makrana police to form an investigative team. Through collaborative efforts and astute field intelligence, the police successfully traced the suspect to the outskirts of Ramdevra. After a comprehensive investigation, the team arrested the accused, 29-year-old Dharuram, a resident of Beechawa village, in Ramdevra, Jaisalmer. Dharuram is currently in custody and being questioned by the authorities.

Details of the brutal attack

According to police reports, on the night of August 31, 2024, between 1:00 and 1:30 AM, Dharuram lured the victim away from her home. He allegedly transported her on his motorcycle to his agricultural fields, where he subjected her to a brutal assault. The victim reported that Dharuram raped her and violently beat her, attempting to kill her in the process. The severity of the assault and the attempt on her life have shocked the locality.

Following the victim's statement at Jaipur's SMS Hospital, the police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the case.
