Amid an ongoing conspiracy involving spices manufactured by MDH and Everest, another incident has come to notice, after Delhi Police discovered the manufacturing and distribution of tainted spices from North East Delhi's Karawal Nagar. during raids at two plants, the police department found almost 15 tonnes of face spices.
The police have also made three arrests, including the proprietors of these processing units in connection with the case.
According to the information, the police got the information about the manufacturing of the adulterated products on May 1, through sources. During raids, the officials found the processing units manufacturing the adulterated turmeric using non-edible and banned products, like spoiled leaves, rice, millets, wood dust, chili heads, acids, and oils.
After a preliminary investigation, one of the officials disclosed that the owner of the plant had admitted the supplying and manufacturing the adulterated spices.
The accused have been identified as Dilip Singh (46), Sarfaraj (32) and Khursheed Malik (42) who were supplying the adulterated spices to the market in Delhi and NCR.
Legal actions
Soon after the raids, the Department of food and Safety collected the samples recovered at the plants and sent them for testing. Meanwhile, a case has been registered under the relevant sections of IPC and the accused who were not only cheating the public but were also endangering several lives have been taken into custody. The investigation in connection with the racket has been initiated.
