Floods in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana creates havoc (ANI)

New Delhi: In light of the severe flooding affecting Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition and Congress MP, has voiced his deep concern and sympathy. Gandhi has called on Congress leaders and members to mobilize resources urgently to aid the ongoing relief and rescue operations in both states.

“My thoughts are with the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as they endure relentless rainfall and devastating floods. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. I urge Congress leaders and workers to mobilize all available resources to support the ongoing relief and rescue efforts,” Gandhi stated in a recent post on X platform.

Flood relief efforts in Telangana

In response to the devastating floods, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced immediate financial assistance for the affected districts, including Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahbubabad and Suryapet. The Chief Minister has allocated Rs 5 crore for flood relief and Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia payments to the families of deceased victims.

Reddy has instructed local authorities to address the damage swiftly and has promised increased compensation for the loss of livestock. The Telangana Government plans to submit a detailed report on the flood damage to the Central Government and will request that the floods be declared a national calamity.

CM Naidu monitors flood situation, urges public to stay calm

In Andhra Pradesh, Governor S Abdul Nazeer has expressed concern over the severe disruption caused by the heavy rainfall and floods in Vijayawada and surrounding areas. Governor Nazeer has advised residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, relying on government assistance for emergencies.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has been actively involved in assessing the flood situation. Aerial footage from Vijayawada reveals widespread inundation in various parts of the city. Chief Minister Naidu reported that 110 boats are being used to deliver food and medical aid to affected areas. He assured the public that the situation is under control, with officials working around the clock to manage the crisis.

Naidu emphasized that command and control centers are being established in the flood-affected regions to streamline the response efforts. “We are streamlining the system, and 110 boats are currently working to supply food and provide medical assistance. I am regularly monitoring the floods, and officials are actively working on the ground. Since last night, I have visited many flood-affected areas. The public should not panic,” Naidu said.
