Congress Lok Sabha MPs KC Venugopal, Deepender Singh Hooda, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa were also present at the meeting. Leaders of the farmers claimed that the Congressmen had assured them that their demands would be discussed in the Lok Sabha and that the firing event in Haryana would be looked into. Supreme Court and MSP

On July 24, the Supreme Court also suggested forming a commission to examine the several requests made by farmers, one of which was a formal guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) for crops. The Supreme Court has ordered a one-week standstill at the Shambhu border near Ambala, where farmers have been camped out since February 13. The Central government and the state governments of Haryana and Punjab have been instructed to propose candidates for the committee.

Among other things, the farmers have been requesting a legislative guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) for crops. In the Union Budget for 2024–25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman budgeted ₹1.52 lakh crore for the agricultural and related sectors.
