Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Efforts by the ruling BJP government in Assam to thwart the 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' led by former Congress President Rahul Gandhi have proven futile, with the Yatra gaining significant public support. On its sixth day, the Yatra, which began at Nimati Ghat in Assam, made its way to Majuli, featuring a boat journey by Rahul Gandhi along the Brahmaputra river.

Enthusiastic Public Turnout

Throughout the 110-kilometer journey, Rahul Gandhi witnessed the palpable enthusiasm of thousands of people gathered along the route. Local residents, clutching tricolor flags, eagerly awaited his arrival. Rahul Gandhi, connecting with the public, even embarked on a two-kilometer walk. The Yatra concluded with a public meeting at Gogamukh for the night.

Corruption Allegations against Assam Chief Minister

During his address, Rahul Gandhi did not mince words, dubbing the Chief Minister of Assam as the "most corrupt Chief Minister of India." He accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing corruption over the welfare of Assam, claiming the leader follows Prime Minister Modi's directives blindly.

'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' and Congress Ideology

Highlighting the Congress party's commitment to national unity, Rahul Gandhi reminisced about the successful 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, which aimed to unite people across religions, languages, regions, and castes. The ongoing 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' from Manipur to Maharashtra continues this tradition. Rahul Gandhi stressed the importance of preserving the culture and language of Northeast India, countering the BJP-RSS vision of centralization.

Advocacy for Tribal Rights

Addressing the plight of tribals, Rahul Gandhi asserted that injustices are being perpetrated against them, with their land systematically seized, and their history erased. He accused the RSS-BJP ideology of attempting to wrest water, forests, and land from tribal communities. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi highlighted Congress's efforts, citing the PESA Act and Tribal Bill aimed at securing land and rights for tribal populations.

Ideological Battle and Regional Governance

Characterizing the Yatra as an ideological battle, Rahul Gandhi emphasized its launch from Manipur, a state marred by unrest. He criticized the BJP for the prevailing civil-war-like conditions in Manipur, claiming that despite the turmoil, Prime Minister Modi has not visited the state. Similar grievances were expressed regarding Nagaland, where promises made by the Prime Minister nine years ago remain unfulfilled.

The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' continues to be a platform for Rahul Gandhi to advocate for social justice, regional autonomy, and the protection of tribal rights, resonating with the public as it progresses through Assam.
