Rahul Gandhi is George Soros, two bodies but one soul: BJP's backlash amist Gautam Adani controversy (ANI)

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unleashed a fierce offensive against the Congress party on Thursday, responding to the latter's criticisms regarding the recent indictment of Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, by US prosecutors in an alleged bribery case. BJP MP Sambit Patra asserted that 'George Soros and Rahul Gandhi are one,' branding the Congress leader as a traitor who is allegedly advancing the agenda of the US billionaire to undermine India's stability.

BJP’s Allegations of a Treacherous Alliance

Patra's comments followed a report published by the French newspaper Mediapart, which suggested that Soros had funded the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), a global investigative journalism agency. He claimed that OCCRP had received significant financial backing from Soros's Open Society Foundation, alleging that it operates in alignment with Soros's interests and what he termed America's 'deep state.' Patra emphasized this connection by stating, 'If OCCRP is affected, Rahul Gandhi cries. If Rahul Gandhi cries, OCCRP gets hurt. They are two bodies but with one soul.'

The BJP leader elaborated on what he described as a 'dangerous triangular nexus' involving George Soros, OCCRP, and Rahul Gandhi. 'A triangular nexus has emerged,' he stated, indicating that this coalition aims to destabilize India. He went on to label Rahul Gandhi as a 'traitor of the highest order,' suggesting that his actions serve foreign interests rather than those of India.

Accusations Against Congress and Its Leadership

The BJP has consistently linked Soros to Congress, particularly highlighting his vocal opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Patra accused certain forces of attempting to fracture India's unity and impede its progress. He boldly declared, 'I am not scared to say this word. I don't have any hesitation to call the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha a traitor.'

He further criticized OCCRP as a global media agency whose funding sources raise questions about its independence. Patra claimed that 70% of OCCRP's funding comes from Soros's foundation, suggesting that this financial dependence compromises its integrity and aligns it with anti-India sentiments.

A Call for Accountability Amidst Political Turmoil

In light of the ongoing political discourse surrounding the Adani scandal, which has seen Gautam Adani and his nephew indicted for allegedly bribing Indian officials to secure solar power contracts worth over ₹2,000 crore between 2020 and 2024, the BJP urged Congress not to politicize these serious allegations. The party pointed out that all states mentioned in the indictment were governed by opposition parties at the time of the alleged bribery.

As tensions escalate between these two political factions, both sides are expected to leverage this issue to further their respective narratives. The BJP's accusations against Congress not only highlight internal political rivalries but also reflect broader concerns about foreign influence in India's governance.

As the controversy unfolds, it is evident that the allegations against Gautam Adani will continue to dominate discussions within Indian politics, with both parties utilizing these developments to bolster their positions ahead of future electoral battles.
