Rahul Gandhi advocates for women leaders: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi articulated the party's ambitious goal during the 'Utsaah' Mahila Congress State Convention in Ernakulam, Kerala. He expressed the Congress mission to achieve gender equality in political leadership by having 50 per cent women Chief Ministers within the next decade.
Addressing the gathering, Rahul Gandhi emphasised the importance of creating opportunities for women within the political system. "A good target for the Congress party would be if, in 10 years from today, 50 per cent of our chief ministers are women," he announced, acknowledging the untapped potential of capable women within the party.

Highlighting the prevalent discrimination in the political landscape, Rahul Gandhi outlined the need for a comprehensive approach to overcome biases. "In the political system, we have different types of discrimination; we have caste discrimination and language, but women are the most discriminated against," he said, underscoring the imperative for systemic changes.
In line with the BJP's commitment to women empowerment, Rahul Gandhi stressed the importance of an assertive stance from the Congress. "From the organisational point of view, it is very important to be aggressive on women empowerment," he asserted, aligning with the broader national agenda.
Rahul Gandhi took a swipe at the RSS and BJP, questioning their commitment to women's issues. He pointedly asked, "Are the women allowed to share power in the RSS?" and criticised the organisations for not fostering a conducive environment for women to participate in decision-making.
"The central fight between BJP and Congress is about how women should be treated," he declared, positioning Congress as a party historically championing women's involvement in governance.
Accusing the RSS of imposing restrictive practices on women, Rahul Gandhi claimed, "In the RSS, they decide what women should do and on what basis women should be respected." He alleged that the RSS dictates women's clothing choices and activities, contrasting it with Congress's commitment to allowing women autonomy.
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Rahul Gandhi highlighted the delayed implementation of the Women's Reservation Bill, calling it the only significant legislation the party has passed for women empowerment after a decade.
As the Congress outlines its vision for the future, the call for greater female representation in political leadership takes centre stage. Stay tuned for updates on the party's initiatives towards achieving this ambitious goal.
