Senior AAP leader and Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha on Thursday filed a suspension of business notice in Parliament to discuss the breakdown of law and order in the state of Manipur due to the failure of the central and state government. 

Chadha is not the only one, RJD MP Manoj Jha has also given the Suspension of business notice to discuss the situation in Manipur. 

It is to be noted here that before this also, Chadha has filed the suspension notice. The Parliament monsoon session has been facing logjam since it has started as opposition parties’ leaders are continuously demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the Manipur situation. On Wednesday, they met President Droupadi Murmu seeking her intervention to restore peace in violence-hit Manipur.  

Many opposition leaders issued notices

Several MPs from opposition parties has issued notices in Rajya Sabha on the eleventh day of the Monsoon session of the Parliament, asking for a lengthy debate of the Manipur issue under Rule 267.

With the Chairman’s consent, the Rajya Sabha may suspend the rules for the day’s agenda in order to discuss an urgent topic. Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain of the Congress, Manoj Jha of the RJD have all requested a suspension of business to examine the situation in Manipur.

However, in accordance with Rule 176, the Centre has agreed to have a brief discussion on the matter, lasting no longer than two hours, in response to the opposition’s I.N.D.I.A group is objecting, stating that they would rather a ‘full meal discussion’ rather than merely discussion of one-two hours.
