Punjab: Nihang attacks youth in Baba Bakala over tea request

The attacker, Happy Singh, fled the scene immediately after the incident. The Khilchia police station has since filed a case and initiated an investigation into the assault.

New Delhi: In a disturbing incident in Baba Bakala, a youth was brutally attacked by a Nihang after requesting tea from a sevadaar at the Gurdwara Sahib. The altercation escalated quickly when the sevadaar, identified as Happy Singh, violently assaulted the youth with swords. The attack left the victim, Nishan Singh, severely injured with wounds to his hands and shoulders. He collapsed, bleeding profusely, near the Gurdwara Sahib in the village of Bhinder.

Victim's condition and police response

Nishan Singh has been rushed to the Civil Hospital Baba Bakala Sahib, where he is reported to be in critical condition. The attacker, Happy Singh, fled the scene immediately after the incident. The Khilchia police station has since filed a case and initiated an investigation into the assault.

Recent violent incidents involving Nihangs

This incident follows a series of violent attacks involving Nihangs in the region. Recently, in Tarn Taran, six Nihangs were involved in a fatal assault on a man in Patti town, where they used swords, resulting in the death of the victim and serious injuries to his son and brother.

In another disturbing episode, Nihangs targeted Shiv Sena leader Sandeep Thapar in Ludhiana. Thapar sustained severe injuries from the attack.
