Punjab Ashirwad Scheme: Transforming lives with financial aid for daughters' weddings

The Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has launched the Punjab Ashirwad Scheme to provide financial assistance to families from economically weaker sections for their daughters’ weddings. This initiative aims to improve the lives of underprivileged families while ensuring social justice and empowerment for girls. Administered by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, the scheme is a step towards alleviating the financial burden of wedding expenses for struggling families.  

Financial Support Under the Scheme  

Eligible families receive a financial grant of ₹51,000 under the scheme. This amount helps reduce the financial strain of wedding-related costs, providing much-needed relief to families facing hardships. The Punjab government aims to support the education and empowerment of girls while promoting equality through this initiative.

The scheme’s primary benefit is financial relief for economically weaker families, enabling them to manage wedding expenses without incurring additional debt. Eligibility Criteria for the Ashirwad Scheme  

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:  

1. The bride must be at least 18 years old.  

2. The family’s annual income should not exceed ₹32,790.  

3. Parents must be residents of Punjab.  

4. Applications must be submitted either before the wedding or within 30 days post-wedding.  

5. A maximum of two daughters per family can benefit from the scheme.  

Application Process for Financial Assistance  

Families can apply for the Punjab Ashirwad Scheme by following these steps:  

- Visit the official portal.  

- Register as an applicant and provide required details.  

- Upload necessary documents, including Aadhaar card, income certificate, and caste certificate.  

- Submit the application form for verification and approval.
