The 17-year-old son of a prominent builder, who tragically hit and killed two techies from Madhya Pradesh while driving his Porsche under the influence in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar on Sunday, is now facing stringent measures. He has been barred from driving until the age of 25, as authorities work to construct a solid case against him. This decision comes after he was granted bail within just 15 hours of the accident, sparking widespread public outrage.

Chronology of events leading to the accident

Details emerging from the investigation shed light on the sequence of events that unfolded on Saturday night, culminating in the fatal accident early Sunday morning. Reports indicate that the teenager had been out celebrating his Class 12 results with friends, visiting two bars during the course of the night. The police have taken strict action against these establishments, sealing them for serving alcohol to minors.

Driving ban and vehicle registration status

An important revelation in the case pertains to the status of the Porsche Taycan car involved in the accident. It has been disclosed that the car’s permanent registration had been pending since March due to the owner’s failure to pay a fee of Rs 1,758. Maharashtra Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar confirmed that the teenager will face a driving ban until the age of 25. Additionally, the luxury vehicle will not be permitted for registration at any RTO office for the next 12 months, following the cancellation of its temporary registration under the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.

Expenditure before the accident

Further highlighting the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar revealed that the teenager had spent a significant sum of Rs 48,000 within a span of just 90 minutes at one of the pubs before the accident occurred. The teenager and his companions initially visited the Cosie restaurant-pub at 10:40 pm on Saturday, where they amassed the substantial bill. Subsequently, they moved to another establishment called Blak Mariott at 12:10 am after being refused service at Cosie.
Both pubs have now been sealed, and legal actions have been initiated against their owners and staff for serving alcohol to minors.
