Under this policy, drivers convicted of drunk driving on multiple occasions will have their drivers licenses permanently revoked.According to the directions, if a driver is found under the influence of alcohol, his licence will be revoked for three months, if it is a first offence. It will be cancelled for six months if it happens for the second time. Upon the third offence, the licence of the driver will be cancelled permanently. Notably, the move was taken by the Pune Police after it booked 1,684 drunken driving cases, in the past six months.
