New Delhi: A tragic incident has come to light from Maharashtra's Pune where Shrikant V Deshmukh, a local businessman, took his own life following a severe domestic argument with his wife. This situation unfolded on Sunday morning and has led to a thorough investigation by the local police.

The tragedy began with a heated argument between Shrikant V Deshmukh, who runs a dry snacks business and his wife at their home in Dhankawadi, Pune. In anger, Deshmukh left his home and drove approximately 75 kilometers to the Varandha Ghat area in Raigad district. This area, recently affected by heavy rainfall, presented a particularly hazardous environment.

Police rush to save Deshmukh from remote location

At a remote and rugged location in Varandha Ghat, Deshmukh made a heartbreaking decision. He sent a final message to his wife saying, "I am going to commit suicide," along with his location details. Alarmed by the message, his wife quickly contacted the local police for assistance.

Police, officials and volunteers join forces for rescue

The police were alerted immediately and initiated a search operation. Bhor Police Station was informed and a rescue team was dispatched to locate Deshmukh. The team first found his abandoned car but could not locate him at the indicated site.

Inspector Anna Pawar from Bhor Police Station described the search efforts: “We formed a rescue team and traveled to the location, which was about 45 kilometers from our station. After locating his vehicle, we continued searching for an additional five kilometers and learned that he had jumped from a bridge into the river below.”

With the help of district officials and local volunteers, the police conducted a comprehensive search downstream. After several hours, they successfully recovered Deshmukh’s body around 11 pm on Sunday.

Uncovering the truth behind Deshmukh's death

Deshmukh's body was transported to Bhor for an autopsy and subsequently returned to the family for final rites. An accidental death report has been filed and the investigation into the circumstances leading to his suicide is ongoing. Deshmukh is survived by his wife and two young daughters.
