There was a violent clash between two groups in Nagpur district of Maharashtra on Monday. In the evening, these two groups came face to face over the grave of Aurangzeb in the Mahal area of Nagpur. Soon, stone pelting started between the two groups. On receiving the information of stone pelting, a large number of police forces reached the spot in a hurry. The police fired tear gas shells to control the situation.
Many vehicles were damaged in the stone pelting by both the groups. At present, the situation remains tense.
Let us tell you that between 7 pm and 7:30 pm on Monday evening, a large number of peoplegathered near Shivaji Chowk and started raising slogans. These people were angry with a protest organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad in the afternoon. As soon as the sloganeering started, another group present there also started raising slogans. After this the police was called to the spot.
The police arrived and separated the two protesting groups and drove them away from Shivaji Chowk towards Chitnis Park. However, beyond Chitnis Park, there was heavy stone pelting on the police from Bhaldar Pura area. The police used force to control the situation, but due to the continuous stone pelting, the police had to fire tear gas shells. According to sources, many vehicles have been damaged due to stone pelting.
Meanwhile, Nagpur MP and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari appealed for peace by tweeting on 'X'. Nitin Gadkari wrote, "Nagpur is a city famous throughout the country for peace and harmony. There is no dispute or fight on the basis of caste, creed or religion in this city." Nitin Gadkari also appealed to Nagpur residents to remain calm and cooperate with the administration in handling the situation.
Let us tell you that when the police reached to pacify the rioters, both the groups got angry. They started pelting stones and committing arson. They set many vehicles parked on the road on fire. They also vandalized the vehicles. During the stone pelting, many police personnel also got injured, who have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. At present, the police-administration officials have taken charge to control the situation
