Ghaziabad Protest: Police in Ghaziabad enforced prohibitory orders under BNS Section 163 on Saturday, restricting gatherings of five or more people in response to growing unrest outside the Dasna Devi temple. This action followed protests against the temple's head priest, Yati Narsinghanand, after videos of his inflammatory remarks made at Hindi Bhawan in Lohia Nagar on September 29 surfaced online.

Heightened security around temple

To prevent the situation from escalating, Police Commissioner Ajay Kumar Mishra deployed six companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and additional police personnel around the temple. Senior officers, including Additional CP Dinesh P., were present in the area to monitor the situation. Furthermore, around 300 quick response teams have been stationed across the district to maintain law and order. Flag marches were conducted, and the local intelligence unit was activated to assess the situation closely.

FIR against Narsinghanand and protesters

An FIR was registered against Yati Narsinghanand at the Sihani Gate police station under BNS Section 302 for his controversial statements. Tensions further escalated on Saturday when expelled BSP member Ravi Gautam and Loni MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar, along with other protesters, gathered near the Dasna Devi temple and Kaliabhatta, demanding stricter action against the seer. This led to incidents of stone-throwing at the police by the protesters, prompting the filing of an FIR against 150 individuals at the Masuri police station for causing unrest.

Social media outcry

Since Friday night, social media has been flooded with posts criticising both Narsinghanand and the Ghaziabad police. Narsinghanand, who is currently out on bail, has faced several legal cases, including charges for a hate speech made during a conclave in Haridwar in December 2021.
