New Delhi: The leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the New Delhi constituency was pointed for his failure to live up to their expectations of homes. The BJP candidate had complained against the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, saying that they cheated them for exorbitant money from the Delhi government housing scheme without getting homes. "AAP has been cheating the poor, especially the jhuggi dwellers," he said, terming the party's actions as a farce.

BJP's charge: Kejriwal encourages selfishness

Kejriwal's government has put on hold the housing scheme for slum dwellers initiated by the Congress government of Sheila Dikshit, according to Verma. Delhi CM allegedly did not allocate more than 8,000 homes that have been ready long ago, claiming that he has been busy redesigning his bungalow, an exercise the BJP has termed as a "Sheesh Mahal."

Documents Reveal Broken Promises for Slum Dwellers

He produced documents under RTI that he said exposed that the Delhi government had taken money from slum dwellers and had not given them the houses it promised to them. According to Verma, demolitions in Silver Oak Park and Karol Bagh have worsened the situation of such families.

AAP Response

AAP countered Verma's claims, stating that the BJP is doing "jhuggi tourism" during the election. They were quoted saying the party had over 1,800 unauthorized colonies, which were developed for roads and basic services, including water and electricity.

AAP showed the court what was going on here: the whole plan of BJPs slum demolition in Shakur Basti, which in any case appears to contradict BJPs claims here.
