In a shocking case from Chhattisgarh's Manendragarh Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district, a 17-year-old Class 11 student was allegedly gang-raped by a group of four men, including a school principal, a headmaster, a lecturer, and a deputy ranger. The accused reportedly blackmailed the victim with a video of the assault and continued to exploit her.

Sequence of events

The incident first occurred on November 15 within the Janakpur police station jurisdiction. Headmaster Ravendra Kushwaha (48) allegedly lured the girl under the pretext of helping her with studies and passing her exams. He took her to the residence of lecturer Kushal Singh Parihar (50), where in-charge principal Ashok Kushwaha (55) was present. The men allegedly gang-raped the girl, recorded the act, and threatened to release the video and harm her if she disclosed the crime.

The ordeal escalated on November 22, when lecturer Kushal Singh Parihar abducted the victim from a bus stand and took her to the home of Deputy Ranger Banwari Singh. There, the girl was again subjected to brutal sexual assault by all four men.

The repeated trauma pushed the victim to confide in her mother, who approached the police on November 26. Acting swiftly, law enforcement arrested all four suspects, who have been placed under judicial custody.

Administrative and legal actions

In response to the incident, the Chhattisgarh Department of Public Instruction (DPI) suspended headmaster Ravendra Kushwaha, lecturer Kushal Singh Parihar, and principal-in-charge Ashok Kushwaha. Surguja PCCF V. Mateswaran also suspended Deputy Ranger Banwari Singh.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against all the accused. “The investigation is ongoing, and strict action will follow,” said Janakpur SHO.
