Prime Minister Modi set to launch Rs 1500 cr projects in J&K; Marking Yoga Day celebrations on 21 June

During his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 84 major development projects valued at over Rs 1,500 crore and lay the foundation for them. Additionally, he will also lead the celebrations for Yoga Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir starting Thursday. During this visit, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a series of major development projects aimed at enhancing the region's infrastructure and overall development.

In the Union Territory, the Prime Minister will inaugurate 84 major development projects valued at over Rs 1,500 crore. These projects encompass various sectors, including road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education infrastructure. Notably, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri section, the development of industrial estates, and the construction of six government degree colleges.

Launch of Agricultural Competitiveness Project

A significant highlight of the visit is the launch of the Competitiveness Improvement in Agriculture and Allied Sectors (JKCIP) Project, worth Rs 1,800 crore. This project aims to be implemented across 90 blocks in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, with a target outreach of 300,000 households and 1.5 million beneficiaries. The initiative is designed to bolster agricultural productivity and allied sectors in the region.

Empowering Youth Event

At approximately 6 PM today, PM Modi will participate in the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. This program is a pivotal moment for the region, highlighting progress and providing inspiration to young achievers. During the event, the Prime Minister will inspect various stalls and interact with young achievers from Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, he will distribute appointment letters to over 2,000 individuals newly appointed to government service.

Leading Yoga Day Celebrations

On June 21, marking the 10th International Day of Yoga, PM Modi will lead the celebrations at SKICC in Srinagar. Since 2015, the Prime Minister has led International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at iconic locations including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru, and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This year’s theme, 'Yoga for Self and Society,' underscores the dual role of yoga in fostering individual and societal well-being. PM Modi will also address the gathering at the event.

This visit is expected to bring significant developments and opportunities to Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing the government's commitment to the region's progress and prosperity.
